Background
The Fund was established in 2009 to increase possibilities for young librarians in Brasil to participate actively in the international school library forum, especially the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL)
OBJECTIVE
This fund is a gift program, designed to make it possible for a young school librarian, teacher-librarian, library assistant interested in school library services and Information Literacy working and living in Brasil to participate in an IASL conference. The person should be 40 years or younger. By participating the person is able to update his/her knowledge and skills and will be able to build a network of relevant persons and organisations.
FINANCIAL ASPECTS
The grant includes:
- Two year membership of IASL;
- Travelling costs to the 2012 IASL annual conference ( November 11-15 in Doha, Qatar);
- Costs for passport and/of visa;
- Travel insurance;
- Costs for accommodation and daily allowance.
MANAGEMENT
The Fund is administered by ‘Stichting Het Da Vinci Huis’ based in the Netherlands. A committee of three professionals from Brasil chaired by the IASL Regional Director for Latin America/Caribbean will select and nominate one person to the Stichting.
The Regional Director for Latin America/Caribbean is the liaison person between the winner and the Stichting.
SELECTION
The selection is made by a jury of 4 professionals: the IASL Regional Director for Latin America/Caribbean, an academic professor in the field, a member of a Brazilian School Library Association, and the winner of the ‘IASL - Da Vinci House Fund for Brasil’
For 2012 the jury will consist of:
- Katharina B.L. Berg (IASL Regional Director for Latin America/Caribbean), chair;
- Prof.Dra. Bernadete Campello (UFMG - Grupo de. Estudos da Biblioteca Escolar);
- Lilia Virginia Martins Santos ( winner of the 2010 prize)
- Carla Floriana Martins, (winner of the 2011 prize).
APPLICATIONS

The application must be accompanied by:
- Curriculum vitae;
- Copy of librarianship diploma;
- A short description of the school and school library where the candidate is employed;
- The reasons that motivated the application;
- Description of the potential benefits from the prize in case of being successful in his/her application;
- The name of a contact person of the school where the candidate is employed;
- proof of their knowledge of English by filling out the Statement Form and signed by the school director. (Statement Form)

The deadline for receipt of applications for the year is MAY 30. 2012.
Further Requirements
At the conference the winner is supposed to give a short presentation (± 10 minutes) on his/her expectations and needs. After the conference the winner is supposed to write a report for an applicable national/international journal in the field.

ORIGEM
O Fundo foi criado em 2009 com a finalidade de aumentar as oportunidades para que jovens bibliotecários(as) brasileiros(as) possam participar ativamente de fóruns internacionais sobre biblioteca escolar, especialmente da International Association of School Librarianship (IASL).
Objectivo
O Fundo consiste em um prêmio para possibilitar que jovens bibliotecários (as) graduados em cursos de Biblioteconomia de nível superior, que trabalhem e vivam no Brasil, e que sejam interessados em bibliotecas escolares e sua função educativa, participem de congressos da International Association of School Librarianship – IASL. Este(a) bibliotecário(a) deverá ter 40 anos ou menos. A participação permitirá que essa pessoa atualize seus conhecimentos e habilidades e possa construir uma rede de pessoas e organizações interessadas na biblioteca escolar.

ASPECTOS FINANCEIROS
O prêmio inclui:
Pagamento de duas anuidades como membro da IASL;
Despesas de viagem para participar do Congresso da IASL 2012 (11-15 de novembro, 2012 em Doha, Qatar)
Despesas com passaporte e visto;
Seguro de viagem;
Despesas para acomodação e alimentação.
ADMINISTRAÇÃO
O Fundo é administrado pela ‘Stichting Het Da Vinci Huis’, com sede na Holanda. Uma comissão formada por três membros, presidida pelo Diretor Regional da IASL para a América Latina/Caribe selecionará o candidato a ser indicado ao prêmio. O Diretor Regional da IASL para a América Latina e Caribe será a pessoa de contato entre o vencedor e a Stichting Het Da Vinci Huis.
SELEÇÃO
A seleção dos candidatos será feita por um júri formado por quatro profissionais: o Diretor egional da IASL para a América Latina e Caribe, um professor universitário que atue na área de biblioteca escolar e um representante de uma entidade que reúna bibliotecas escolares e um vencedor do Da Vinci House-IASL Fund for Brasil. Para 2011 o júri será formado por:

INSCRIÇÕES

Na inscrição o candidato deverá incluir:
• Currículum vitae;
• cópia do diploma de graduação em Biblioteconomia;
• uma breve descrição da escola e da biblioteca escolar onde trabalha;
• os motivos que o levam a se candidatar ao prêmio;
• uma explanação sobre os benefícios em potencial que o prêmio pode trazer, caso seja escolhido;
• o nome de um dos membros da escola onde trabalha para contato;
• comprovação de domínio do idioma inglês, que deverá ser feita através da Statement Form disponível na página http://www.albertkb.nl/dvh-iasl-brasil.html, assinado pelo Diretor da escola.
Deve enviar também uma explanação sobre os benefícios em potencial que o prêmio pode trazer caso seja escolhido.

Outros requisitos
O vencedor deverá fazer uma pequena apresentação (cerca de 10 minutos) durante a Conferência da IASL e escrever um relato para ser publicado em uma revista de circulação nacional/internacional.
